The Thalia Group

Our Toolkit: Training

The best training sessions are those in which both art and science are skillfully blended in the design and implementation.

Training is a process for improving and enhancing performance. Whenever the functioning of an individual or group is limited by a lack of knowledge or skill, some form of training can be designed to address the need. Training is not just a talking presentation, but rather a facilitated active interaction between group members, leading to real and sustainable performance outcomes.

The Thalia Group works with individuals and groups to initiate and manage change. In our work with various groups, we have observed the importance of active participation and ownership in achieving systemic change. Our learner-centered training programs are information rich, engage participants in relevant activities, and provide opportunities for meaningful practice.

The Thalia Group brings knowledge of the adult learner to create training that is effective and engaging. Our consultants utilize creativity and innovation in designing learning activities to meet the particular needs of any client.

Our approach to training is experiential, full of opportunities for individual insight and group reflection. We teach principles of problem solving and strategic thinking that are aligned with the needs and goals of the organization. Navigating through change requires that each individual access flexibility, creativity, and understanding of the change process. After practicing ways to handle situations, participants learn to make self-guided changes in actions based on the lessons learned. We find that this level of individual involvement results in long term sustainable change.

“Good sequencing of activities, from easy introductions, to longer incorporations. Good decompression with the history activity and closing circle. Bridge-It was perfect for this group – dealing with different offices and communication. It was a bit complex and a bit rushed, but we all related to the complexity and time pressure. Lots of learning.” JP, Regional Manager, US Department of Agriculture
