The Thalia Group

Our Toolkit: Team Building

In his book, Good To Great, Jim Collins writes about the importance of getting the right people on your bus. Well, once you have a bus full of the right passengers and your route clearly mapped out, how do you ensure that everyone will be pulling together and in the right direction?

The concept of a well-oiled team, a work group that teases out and builds on each individual's strengths and talents for the good of the whole is a wonderful thing! Making it work in reality, is a often a struggle. Not everyone knows how to be or even wants to be a team player. This can be a challenge for even the most experienced of leaders.

Here’s where we come in… The Thalia Group consultants have experience building successful teams as organizational leaders themselves (several of us are former CEOs) and as outside experts brought in to consult with leadership. We will work closely with you to determine where the "team glue" is missing and devise a program to pull your team together.

Our approach will be an engaging one, you can count on that, but you can also count on it being individualized to your team's unique situation. We will bring our organizational development expertise and knowledge together with our experience as adventure-based programmers to create a response designed to generate a successful outcome...a strong sense of team among the members of the work group, a better understanding of the group dynamics involved and the leadership and communication styles of the various members of that team.

The Thalia Group: strategic planning“Before this workshop I felt uncertain about the need for team building. Now I feel very positive about our accomplishments - we learned to work together to meet challenges and had fun with each other. I am sincerely pleased that so many of our agency’s employees were able to attend this together.” SB, Program Director, NYS Association of Renewal and Housing Officials
The Thalia Group: strategic planning“I came expecting a day off from the usual routine at work. What I got was an opportunity to laugh and relax while strengthening relationships with those I already knew and work with and an opportunity to begin relationships with those I didn’t.” KB, Albany County Mental Health Association
“Teri was very prepared and had excellent exercises. She helped us accomplish much and got us to the heart of the matter.” State University of New York, Career Development Organization Conference session participant
