The Thalia Group
Training: Diversity Management
As organizations continue to shift toward team-based processes, leaders recognize the value and challenge of managing a diverse workforce. Diversity can positively influence the performance of work teams, enhancing creativity and improving productivity.
Our definition of diversity includes the differences that we see when we look at one another as well as those less obvious differences that are present but may or may not be taken into account as we work on a task—that is, solve a problem—together. Behavioral diversity, or differences in how individuals behave in particular situations, has a significant effect on the outcome of a team’s efforts. Problem solving in groups, the challenge of a work team, requires that each member play a contributing role in the overall effort.
It is essential that diverse group members understand the behavioral aspects of problem solving, as well as their own and others’ individual styles, if they are to be held accountable for their team’s contribution to organizational excellence.
The Thalia Group addresses differences in cultural and gender norms, generational values and experiences, worldviews, and other personal experiences that affect the way that people approach problem solving in work and life. Our work with organizations leads diverse group members to understand the behavioral aspects of problem solving, as well as their own and others’ individual styles.
“The interactive exercises, discussions and role play development were thought provoking and helped me grasp the diversity concept and relate it to my own team challenges.” HR Manager, Insurance Industry, NYC

can change the world. ”
