The Thalia Group
Our Toolkit: Curriculum Writing
A curriculum is a plan for teaching or training that identifies learning goals, outlines activities that support learner achievement of the goals, and allows for feedback and assessment. When developing a curriculum, The Thalia Group uses a “backward design” model in which we start with the desired results and then create the appropriate learning experiences.
We specialize in Turnkey Training Programs, in which we develop a curriculum and then prepare a group of trainers to facilitate the training. Many organizations prefer an in-house resource for their staff development. We consult closely with the client to determine the training needs and the desired outcomes. Each curriculum project includes a complete Facilitator’s Guide with schedule, learning goals, checklist list of materials and handouts, and training suggestions. We provide ready-to-use handouts and Powerpoint presentations.
“The Call Center Customer Service Training curriculum was implemented for multiple groups of re–entry women over a three year period. Our business partners found the women to be well prepared for the call center positions. Sandra worked closely with all the partners in developing the curriculum. During the research phase she reviewed job descriptions, observed workers, interviewed managers and even took the entry exam. The result was a professional facilitator’s manual which she introduced to our training staff through a series of workshops. She was available during the first session to make revisions as needed. Sandra is a skilled facilitator and transfers that into her curriculum and training designs.” LJ, Director, Women’s Employment and Resource Center
